We live in a world of innovation. Every day, we hear about new inventions and technologies being developed to make our lives easier but with all advanced gadgets around us, let’s take a step back and think about whether its right to expose children to the latest technology or not. If yes, then what is the right time for them to own or use them, or the right age to introduce them with the gadgets and the number of hours they should spend in front of the screen. There are pros and cons of technology in education, lifestyle & society. 

Pros of technology on Kids 

1. With so much content to watch and cherish online, they can keep themselves occupies. Technology acts as a great source of entertainment for all. 

2. Any sort of information needed can be accessed online with just one click. This has made the teaching learning process eve more engaging for both the students and the teachers. Online assessments, presentations can be submitted and it’s easy o grade or rank the student. 

3. Technology saves a lot of time: With everyone well-connected to different networks, its easy to get in touch with anyone for any sort of work and that can be completed in a short span of time when compared to manual work. 

4. Technology has improved our socialization at the same time it is a great source of learning as well. Learning with new ways via demonstration, 3-D videos and video lectures. The Latest news articles, feeds are available to us almost live. 

5. One of the greatest benefits to expose kids to new gadgets is that they have better learning power and can have grip on anything in a short span of time. This makes them self-learning individual and helps in developing their motor skills. 

Cons of technology on Kids 

1. With excessive use of technology children may become isolated from actual interaction with anyone in the real world. They may even go into depression and loneliness due to regular use of gadgets.
2. Overuse of technology may affect the health of children in a very negative way. They may start ignoring their health. They remain so busy with their phones and gadgets that they even forget to eat. This results in headache, sleeplessness and harm to their eyes. 

3. Fitness is another challenge that technology has created for the youth. They have become so addicted to their phones and laptops that they don’t feel the need to play any outdoor sport. Thus, resulting in obesity and fitness concerns for the parents. 

4. There are a number of cyber threats associated with it as well, of which the youth is unaware of. There are privacy concerns when everything around us is connected to network. If not protected, the personal data of an individual may be misused and can lead to greater issues. 

5. The dependence on technology by children has grown so much that they have stopped using their own creativity for any task. They simply search online for any queries they have instead of using their own ideas to solve a problem. This is one of the major disadvantages of technology in child development.
