With time, things around us has changed and so has the technology. Almost everything that we are surrounded by is the result of changing technology. It is emerging radically, things are being improved, and we are witnessing innovation firsthand Same goes for one such industry which is booming and is an essential part of all our lives, Education. To start with, let’s look at technology in the classroom we have evolved from using chalk boards to white boards and projector screen. We are in a time when technology and education are non-separable. Pros of Technology in Education: 

1. Ample resources for reference: Going through all those big fat books to get to the actual content needed has been reduced. We now have soft copies of every book and documents we need for our reference. All the content is now available at student’s hand via phones, i pads, laptops etc. 

2. Environment friendly: With all the electronic devices in use, we have reduced the wastage of books and papers. Technology is playing here a great deal to reduce deforestation in this regard, giving option to not waste more paper. 

3. In-hand information: Search for information has become quite easy for students, scholars and even professors. 

4. Creative way of learning: With different media tools to explore, students are now more interested in learning things than they were before. Use of video demonstration, 3-D graphics and images have made learning more engaging for both the student and the teacher. 

5. Better technical skills: Students are no more intimidated by new gadgets, their curiosity drives them to learn new methods of operation which make them efficient in using different tools and platform like excel, power point, email and social media. 


Cons of Technology in Education: 

1. Negative impact on daily life: Though technology has made our work easier but it goes without saying that it has also separated us from our friends and family. Students are busy with social media platforms like Facebook, Whats App and Instagram which has reduced their social interaction and has distracted them from the actual utility of this technology

2. Risk for Health: With so much dependency on electronic devices and keeping ourselves 24*7 busy on phones and laptops, technology poses a great threat to our health. Right from direct exposure of screens to our eyes to our brains. 

3. Cyber threat and Privacy concern: With increasing cyber crime, there no security that our privacy will not be intervened with. Data available online may be used for any purpose and misused as well. 

4. Decreased Creativity: Technology has made us so much dependent on itself that we no more think of new ideas. We have got used to copy and paste life, modifying others’ ideas rather than using our own creativity. 


5. Laziness: With everything available to us in one click, we no more consult our textbooks and merely look for online content available which may not always be reliable as the source needs to be verified before using the content.
