Though knowing exactly what an interviewer is going to ask is not possible but some of the obvious (or anticipated) questions can be taken care of.
Here are some tips that will help you to prepare for your interview:
- Read thoroughly about the organization (or institute) you are giving interview for.
- If you are appearing for a job interview, make sure to know about the profile being offered and the roles & responsibility associated with it.
- First impression is the last impression: Go well-groomed and well-dressed when you appear for your interview. A shabby look may be a no ticket for you even without uttering a word in front of the interviewer(s).
- Confidence is the key: It's natural to be a bit nervous when you are about to appear for an interview but do not let that nervousness appear on your face. Practicing in front of a mirror is one of the best technique to overcome that fear.
- Be prepared with everything that's on your CV: Most of the interviews are based on your CV. It mostly starts with your last organization, your roles and responsibilities or project undertaken by you. For fresher, it can be based on the events that you lead or were part of or certifications (if any).
- Being silent is better than being blunt: At times, you may not be aware of the things that an interviewer asks, it's wise to accept that you don't know the answer to that question rather than giving a lame answer. If you have a little idea about the question, you can always say " I am not completely sure of it but to my guess......"
- Prepare answers to common questions: These include the following:
- Tell us about yourself
- What are your greatest strengths?
- What are your greatest weaknesses?
- Why are you interested in this company?
- Why should we hire you?
- Why did you leave your last job?
- When is a time you failed and how did you respond?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Go prepared with some questions: At the end of the interview, it's quite possible that you will be asked if you have any questions for the interviewer. Be prepared with some questions beforehand.
